of all the ways the avengers characters get mischaracterized by fandom i think the one that bugs me most is steve
here is a list of my grievances
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY
- steve is not an idiot
- no really
- i don’t know where people are getting this from
- steve is a brilliant tactician and warfare strategist
- he’s a little out of his element in 2012 but i can assure you
- steve would not ask if microwaves work with fire
- he could figure out an iPhone i promise you
- yes he was like “how do this electrical panel tony???” in the movie
- but jesus christ did you see that thing
- i didn’t understand anything tony was saying either and i’m pretty darn smart
- other instances in which you can tell steve is intelligent and resourceful:
- he mulan’d the shit out of that flag pole at the beginning of Captain America
- he lead a tactical strike against HYDRA with just a ragtag bunch of badass misfits
- etc
- okay moving on
- steve does not need the other avengers to tie his shoelaces
- ok
- he can be a little doofy in social situations but he is very self-sufficient
- he lead a tactical strike against HYDRA during WWII i mentioned that right
- more things im not done yet
- steve has a sarcastic sense of humor. its a little more dry wit and less dramatic than, like, tony’s
- but see: i punched out hitler over 200 times!
- it seems to run on some form of electricity!
- there’s only one god and he doesn’t dress like that!
- also
- steve is an angry person
- he has a lot of anger built up inside of him
- i mean it’s implied that he spent most of his time pre-Avengers in a gym
- alone
- remembering all his failures
- beating the shit out of punching bags
- he’s done that before that’s how he knew he’d need more than one
- so those are my feelings i know i have a lot of them
- but isn’t all this combined a lot more interesting than “fluffy doofy marshmallow who doesn’t know anything about anything”???
- ok
